Most people are familiar with traditional medicine where you get sick and you go see a doctor. They prescribe a pill to treat your symptoms. This results in masking your symptoms until the next time the symptoms show up again. Functional Medicine approaches this differently. We help you get your body to a healthier state so you get sick less often, if ever. When you do have health problems we treat the root cause of the problem so your problem disappears. We do this using healthier foods and supplements. As long as you continue with the functional medicine lifestyle you will usually remain healthy.
Your Functional Medicine Journey
You begin your journey into Functional Medicine with a free consultation. This is to help you determine if this is a good option for you and for CCNP to determine if you are a good candidate for Functional Medicine. Not everyone is ready to follow the guidelines of Functional Medicine as it does require you to make changes in your life. However, you will find that if you are willing to make those changes, your life will be so much better.
After your free consultation you will be schedule an appointment for a blood draw. This may or may not be covered by your insurance. This blood work will be much more comprehensive that most blood work you normally have done. This enables us to determine how to tailor a plan specifically for you. You will also schedule an appointment for your first visit with your provider. These may be done at the same time if you prefer.
During your first visit with your provider you will pay a small initial retainer fee. You will be provided with a basic plan that all Functional Medicine patients follow. This plan includes a Detox diet that you will follow for 3 weeks and a list of basic supplements that you will need to begin taking.
It normally takes about 10 days for the results of your blood work to be received. You will schedule an appointment with your provider to review this and receive your tailored plan to living a better life. You will pay the remainder of your retainer during this visit.
After 1 month you will see your provider again for a follow up and to make any changes that are necessary to your plan. You will need a follow-up with your provider every 2 weeks for the first 3 months.
